Amber Alert Update: Missing Child Found Unharmed

(United Latest News)- An Amber Alert that was issued on Saturday night has now been canceled, as a 2-year-old boy has been found safe, and the suspect has been arrested. The Becker Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension had issued the alert when they were searching for a 2-year-old boy who had been abducted. The authorities were also searching for a 41-year-old man who shared the same last name as the boy, as they suspected he might be linked to the child’s disappearance. The alert was issued around 7:26 p.m. on Saturday, and it was canceled with an email alert sent at about 5:44 a.m. on Sunday, stating that the boy had been found safe, and the suspect was in custody.

The events leading to this outcome began with the Becker Police Department responding to a domestic assault on Rolling Ridge Road. During the incident, a woman was assaulted, and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, taking the victim’s 2-year-old son with him. It’s important to note that there was a court order in place that prohibited the suspect from having any contact with the child.

Due to the urgent circumstances, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) was notified, and they promptly issued an Amber Alert to aid in locating the missing child. The alert was broadcast to the public to raise awareness and gather any information that could lead to the safe recovery of the child.

Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a homeowner in Baxter, who reported seeing lights on in a shed and noticed movement inside. The suspect had connections to this property. Responding quickly, the police set up a perimeter around the location and engaged in negotiations with the suspect for about 3.5 hours. Eventually, the suspect was taken into custody, and the child was found unharmed.

These charges will be submitted through a long-form complaint to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office.
