(United Latest News)- In a harrowing aerial event on Saturday, an unfortunate mid-air collision involving a helicopter and a gyrocopter near Oshkosh, Wisconsin, resulted in the loss of two lives and left two others injured, as reported by authorities. Tragically, another fatal incident occurred when a small plane crashed into a nearby lake, claiming the lives of two more individuals.
A spokesperson from the Experimental Aircraft Association conveyed to United Latest News that the collision took place shortly before 12:30 p.m. local time, precisely in the vicinity of the Wittman Regional Airport. The grim news was further corroborated by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, informing the EAA that two individuals lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries during the mid-air collision.
Upon investigating the incident, the National Transportation Safety Board revealed that the ill-fated aircraft belonged to individuals attending the EAA’s annual fly-in convention in Oshkosh. However, it was clarified that these aircraft were not part of the air show. The involved aircraft were identified as a Rotorway 162F helicopter and an ELA Eclipse 10 gyrocopter, each carrying two passengers.

In an entirely separate and devastating occurrence, at approximately 9 a.m. on Saturday, a small North American T-6 plane, with two souls aboard, tragically crashed into Lake Winnebago shortly after taking off from Wittman Regional Airport, as disclosed by the FAA. Regrettably, both individuals on board perished, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
The FAA and the NTSB have commenced their investigations into both heart-wrenching incidents. As of now, the identities of the victims in both crashes have not been released, and the specific circumstances surrounding the tragic events remain shrouded in uncertainty.
