Herrera, who had no idea he had sold the winning ticket until media gathered at his store on Thursday, mentioned to K-CAL News that he suspected the winner might be of Latin descent. As per Powerball rules, the vendor of the winning ticket receives a 0.5% share of the jackpot, capped at $1 million. Similar to gas station owner Joseph Chahayed, who cashed in his share of a previous record jackpot, Herrera will also be receiving the maximum amount.

Having four children in his family, Herrera intends to utilize a portion of the winnings to treat his loved ones to a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Meanwhile, the actual $1 billion jackpot winner has not yet come forward. Inside Edition posted a video showing a woman who entered the store, claiming to be the holder of the winning ticket while crying and shouting. However, she left without showing her ticket to the press. Herrera admitted that he didn’t recognize the woman, though his daughter believed she might be related to the actual winner.
