(United Latest News)- A murder suspect was apprehended in Springfield by the efforts of the Springfield Police Department and U.S. Marshals on Wednesday. The arrest is related to a shooting that took place this month.
The suspect, identified as Kedric Holt, from Springfield was taken into custody on Rosewood Avenue, where the shooting occurred. The incident took place around 10 p.m. On July 8 when officers responded to the scene and discovered Gregory Wells, a 20-year individual with gunshot wounds to his chest. Despite being transported to a hospital Wells unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Holt was arrested on Wednesday. Is now facing charges, including two counts of murder two counts of discharging a firearm, improper handling of a firearm, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. Presently he is being held in the Clark County Jail.
During a press conference held on Thursday, Sgt. James Byron from the Springfield Police Division expressed gratitude towards the U.S. Marshals for their assistance in locating wanted criminals; “The Marshals have played a role in helping us track down offenders we’ve been actively seeking for ” said Sgt. Byron. He also acknowledged the cooperation and support received from the public in cases, like this one.

“We want to express our gratitude to the public for their input, in these cases ” he stated. “Without their assistance it would be more challenging to pursue these investigations. Therefore we genuinely appreciate the involvement of the public, in these matters.”
